What is the Gospel?

Simply put, the Gospel means “good news”. The Bible tells us in Romans 3:23 that all of us are born into sin and are going to be lost in hell forever if we die in our sins (Romans 6:23). God is a very just God and he will punish sin (Nahum 1:3).  This of course is not good news.  The good news is that God does not want to punish us for our sins (2 Peter 3:9) so He punished Jesus in our place (1 Peter 3:18).  Jesus Christ, God in the flesh willingly died in your place so that the wrath of God the Father would be satisfied. Jesus was punished so you can be free.  This is the good news!  If you repent and accept what Jesus did for you on the cross personally, God will no longer hold you accountable for your sins as you have now been justified in God’s sight.  God the Father has accepted the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross in your place.  However, Jesus is the only way and we must personally trust in Him and not our good works (Ephesians 2:8-9).  If today you are sorry for your sins and desire to be forgiven, put your faith in Jesus. Trust that what Jesus did on the cross was enough for you.  Like the jailer in Acts 16:30-31 who was brought to a place of conviction and repentance, “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved!” Romans 10:9 instructs us to “confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead.”  Is that all? Yes, but be sincere about your decision to follow Jesus (Luke 9:62).  Jesus died for you, be willing to live for Him.  Jesus must come first in your life.  We cannot say we love God and not obey Him (1 John 2:4-5).  By calling Jesus Lord we are calling ourselves servant.  A servant lives to please his master, so also we must live for Jesus.  The Gospel is the greatest news ever told and it has the power to completely change your life.  Surrender your life to Jesus today, confess your sinfulness to God and ask Him to forgive you, tell Him you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and you believe that what He did was enough for you. Ask the Lord to fill you with His Holy Spirit so that you may live for Him.  If you have made this decision today, we encourage you to tell us about it.  Join us or another Bible believing Church.  Read the Bible everyday and spend time with God in prayer.  Get baptized according to Matthew 28:19-20 and go tell others this same good news!
